Maria Webb: A Practitioner of Relational Stewardship

I am a guest and a practitioner rooted in the ancestral and living lands of the Anishinaabeg—the Three Fires Confederacy of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi—and the sovereign territory of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.

In this space, we do not merely "acknowledge" history; we actively confront the colonial systems of forced removal and the ongoing theft of Indigenous labor and life. We recognize that "embodied sovereignty" is impossible without acknowledging the literal ground upon which our bodies rest.

Our commitment to Justice means:

Honoring Vitality, Not Just History: We recognize the Anishinaabeg and Saginaw Chippewa not as people of the past, but as current and future leaders, thinkers, and stewards of this land.
Relational Accountability: This practice is committed to moving beyond words and into the work of dismantling the "internalized settler" within our own healing journeys.
Ancestral Integrity: We affirm that the wisdom shared in this space is informed by a deep respect for the Indigenous lineages of this territory, whose stewardship has remained unbroken since time immemorial.

We stand in solidarity with the sovereignty of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and the Anishinaabeg, understanding that our collective liberation is inextricably bound to the liberation of the land.
